Year 12 Art History Parliament Trip
BackA group of Year 12 Langton Art Historians visited the Houses of Parliament and Tate Britain this week to further explore the powerful connection between art, history, and politics.
Due to the upcoming election, both Houses were particularly quiet, but the group were able to meet Lord Borwick, member of the House of Lords for a question and answer session, along with a full tour of both Houses. Later in the afternoon, we visited the Tate Britain to view the John Singer Sargent exhibition, exploring how he used fashion to create portraits of the time, which still captivate today.
Year 12 students take part in research projects every Wednesday afternoon. The Art Historians will complete their project by preparing a short lesson for Year 7 students on their chosen work of art.
The group have raised the bar with their enquiry skills and thirst for knowledge which we hope will contribute well to developing their core studies across the school and beyond.
