Mathematics in Context (Core Maths)
“Pure mathematics is in its way, the poetry of logical ideas.” – Albert Einstein
At school, our Mathematics curriculum is designed to foster students' logical reasoning skills, enabling them to tackle complex problems and apply these skills in their everyday lives. We go beyond traditional math education by offering a unique future pathway program, exclusive to Langton, which instills a lifelong appreciation for the role mathematics plays in various fields. In this program, students discover that mathematics can be a creative subject, allowing them to explore patterns and devise innovative solutions to intricate problems.
From the moment students embark on their Langton journey in Year 7, we empower them to become confident mathematicians. Our curriculum, combined with extensive support, boosts their self-assurance and significantly increases the number of students choosing to study mathematics at A Level. At Langton, we believe in teaching mathematical literacy, equipping students with essential cognitive abilities and highly sought-after graduate skills needed to navigate a data-driven society. These skills not only enable our students to gain access to prestigious universities but also open doors to lucrative and rewarding career opportunities.
By the end of their time at Langton, our students have experienced the immense satisfaction of successfully solving problems and comprehend how the study of mathematics has equipped them to pursue both their personal and academic aspirations.
