On Thursday 13th February, Year 12 Classical Civilisation students ended the term on a high by going to the British Museum and Bloomsbury Theatre as part of their Greek theatre component.

Whilst at the British Museum the students were able to see some of their visual sources which depicted performances and are useful for showing costumes, masks and prompts in both comedies and tragedies. The students also saw a number of other artefacts, including the Parthenon frieze, to go beyond their A Level curriculum and enhance their knowledge of the ancient world.

After a brief walk to the Bloomsbury Theatre the students saw a fantastic adaptation of the Greek comic playwright Aristophanes' play 'Frogs'. The play was excellent in giving a balance between old and new, keeping many of the original jokes and references but also giving a modern twist to the humour to make it relatable for a 21st Century audience.
